Botanical gardens

On Sunday the 5th of June, SAS organize an interesting walk in the Athens Julia and Alexander Diomedes Botanical Gardens in Chaidari, located at the west side of Athens, 8 km from city center.

Extended at an area of  1860 stremata ( 186 hectares ), this is not only country’s biggest but also Southeastern Europe’s largest botanical garden. There are at least 500 plant species along the footpaths as well as a Pine forest that gives opportunity for a very easy walk duration of which would be 2 hours approxim. The nearby Dafni Monastery is worth visiting after the stroll.

Meeting point is at Garden Café, 403 Iera Odos just after passing the entrance of botanical garden. At the same Café we could take our lunch or meal (mezedes) after the walk…!

All of us we have to issue individually an electronic ticket, free of charge, through the website : www.diomedes-bg.uoa.gr/εισιτήριο→ , but because of strict regulations from park’s administration and limited number of visitors at summer season, entrance is prohibited for more than 10 people at the same moment !.
